Today I listened to 6 Minute English "Is there a future without bees?". The contents of the podcast was the important role that insects, especially bees, play in pollination. Insects are necessary to produce crops because they can transfer pollen from plant to plant. In fact, almost all plants need insects to reproduce. I was surprised that 40 out of 50 of the top crops rely on insect pollination. Bees and insects play a vital role in growing the world's staple crops. However bees will not leave their hive when it rains or heavy wind, so some people have started using drones to pollinate their orchards.
